Disney Perfume

I forget what I was looking up but I found these awesome looking Disney villian perfume bottles. I found out the artist who did these is called Ruby Spark. I kept looking around and really got into the shapes and forms of the bottles. After that I got a tad obsessed and I decided to make them so I could try the complicated shapes the bottles produced. Also, I wanted to play with glass. Almost all of the bottles have simple textures that mainly rely on single colors.
Renders of all Bottles
Character Bottles
Maleficent - Sleeping Beauty
This was the first bottle I did. Not really sure why just felt like it and liked the shape of it. I played with the form a little to try and make it seem more like a real perfume bottle. I enjoyed the form and since the first making, I began to revise it. It was originally about 8 pieces and by the end image, I managed to take it down to 5. I think the hardest part was the v in the middle and the place where the horns meet the body. I love how this bottle looks. I think that and the colors were my favorite parts. I approached this from a literal how would this be made part and ended up with the green piece as a small bottle within the purple shell. It's not the same kind of color as the concept art but I actually really like it. I especially like the more vibrant purple that is seen where the glass gets thin, like the horn tips.
Gaston - Beauty and the Beast
This was the second bottle I did. I kinda just felt like doing something with a lot of red and a somewhat simpler shape. I thought I bit off a bit more than I could chew with he first bottle, Maleficent. So I was gonna try this one. Honestly, I originally made this with next to no intent to add the deer head or mini plaque. I don't think it looks bad without it I just wasn't sure how to do a head like that and I didn't really know about how to do a shape like the antlers. Although now I wonder why I was so worried about them. I did the antlers based off the trees I learned how to do in my Ethereal Swamp under Projects. Funny how the trees are more useful in everything but what I originally designed them for. Also I forgot about the base coming from my miraculous necklaces.
I really like this vibrant red, it really feels like Gaston. I need to redo the belt. I'll probably add an actual leather texture to it to make it feel right. I'll adjust the copper color to a slightly darker one so that it will match the leather a bit better. All in all, I enjoyed this. I also got the chance to play with the transparency you can actually see. The Maleficent bottle can't really be seen through. But this you can so it was interesting to see that.
Captain Hook - Peter Pan
So this way my attempted third bottle. I really liked the hat and that's about all I wanted to do. Needless to say, I didn't really understand how to do the waist twist. I attempted the work but I didn't get very far and am debating on just starting from scratch because I don't really like how it looks. I also finally have an idea of how to do this so we'll see if it works.
Queen of Hearts - Alice in Wonderland
This wasn't really something that I felt I needed to do during this time. I did this as the fourth bottle. I did it because I liked the color and got really into cards again. I honestly don't remember this taking like any real-time. The heart and crown were some of my favorite parts of this. I remember starting the UVs on some of the previously made versions though. I really wanted to see the design and the UVs were not going to stop me from seeing them. This was the first bottle I did that would require actual UVs. All previous bottles are simply ai surface shaders with only solid colors or a two-color ramp at most. The UVs are still fairly basic but I wanted to see the bottle with the proper colors.
Ursula - The Little Mermaid
I think this was the fifth bottle I worked on. I liked the idea of the 8 legs and how to add all them. I think the original design was nice but too rounded at the top. I later found when making this that it made sense. When I attempted to change the shape it ended up looking more phallic than I wanted. So, in the end, it did change but not much. I learned more about how to use the nurbs curves here. I realized that I wouldn't accomplish the shape I wanted to unless I got it with nurbs.
Mother Gothel - Tangled
The sixth bottle is one that I'm not sure what made me want to do this one. I think I was trying to add it to a demo reel before I heard that demo reels didn't like fan-art. That and I hate the flower. I did a quick job on it for the demo reel but hadn't gotten a chance to fix it. I kinda like it, not for this but in general, I think the flower wasn't a bad attempt. The part of this bottle that was my favorite was the sash. I really like actually tying the material around the buckle and learning how it would tie.
Hades - Hercules
I think this was the second bottle, but seventh in the series. I tried to do it for the demo reel. I attempted to do fun projects. I think that I wanted to do the pedestal part that holds the fire the most When I was thinking about it I wasn't sure how I'd do it. I thought that pulling the zig zag from the cylinder would warp the shape but adding it onto the shape would show pinching. Ended up going with adding it to the cylinder. It seems to have worked. The fire was the harder part. I thought I'd just do the nurbs like with the Ursula one but it didn't work the way I wanted to. I end up making it straight from some geometry and using the sculpt tools to move it around a little. Still not quite what I wanted but I'll revisit it and see if I can fix it some more. Also, I really enjoy how the glass is reacting to the bottle's shape that wasn't what I thought would happen but it is very cool. The glass is similar to the rest of the glass in the series so that effect while cool wasn't intentional. I think it has to do with the shape, the Gaston bottle has a similar but muted effect.
